“£500 Challenge Bet” (£877– 2 bets running)
Let's do a couple of Euro 2008 bets. This looks a remarkably open tournament. I have positions on a few countries but can't see much of value in the outright market. However there are two group bets we can get involved in.
Spain look rock solid to win Group D against three moderate evenly-rated teams who are likely to take points off each other. Expect Spain to blow their chances as usual later in the competition but winning this group shouldn't be beyond even them.
I had an early bet on Romania to win the whole thing, before they were handed the dead duck slot in the group of death. However, there's reason to think they could do Ok here. Italy and France look to be fading, and Holland didn't beat them in the qualifying. 7/2 to qualify looks too long, but I am particularly attracted to around Evens on them not to finish bottom.
£20 Spain to win Group D at 5/6 or better
£15 Romania to not finish bottom Group C at Evens
£5 Romania to qualify from Group C at 7/2
“Barking Bets” (Banked £200/Current bank £1156)
(A good day yesterday and in profit for the week. There are a couple of other possible races at Newton Abbot today.)
Dutch Germany and Croatia to win Group B £120 at 1.17
Newton Abbot 4:30 Dutch front two £120 at 1.25
